Prof. Zhu Li Yap will be highlighting guidelines for usage and situations in which it is safe for a general and comprehensive ophthalmologist to insert an istent and when they should be referring the patient to a glaucoma specialist. She will also share some pointers that will improve assessment as well as surgery with accompanying videos and things that can go wrong.
Lens extraction has been shown to decrease the intraocular pressure in both open angle glaucoma and angle closure glaucoma eyes. This talk reviews the efficacy of cataract surgery in lowering the intraocular pressure and critically evaluates whether it can be considered a form of glaucoma surgery.
