Glaucoma is a long-life treatment. Unfortunately, there are many pain points using eyedrop such as patient compliance, complications both systemic and ocular. The clinical outcomes of the LiGHT study have led to a paradigm shift in glaucoma care. Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) is recommended as a first-line treatment on POAG. Drop Less or Less Drop treatment that still preserve vision and improve quality-of life and vision seems to be more concerned in glaucoma care.

Norman M. Aquino Associate Professor and Chief of Glaucoma Division at University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital Dr. Norman M. Aquino is an Associate Professor at the University of the Philippines. He is the Chief of the Glaucoma Service of the Department of Ophthalmology of the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital. He also is the head of the Glaucoma Section of the American Eye Center. Dr. Aquino is a founding member and a Past President of the Philippine Glaucoma Society.
Manchima Makornwattana Associate Professor, Department of Ophthalmology at Thammasat University Faculty of Medicine
Manchima Makornwattana Associate Professor, Department of Ophthalmology at Thammasat University Faculty of Medicine Associate Professor Manchima Makornwattana currently serves as the Director of Ophthalmology department, Faculty of Medicine at Thammasat University Hospital. She has been appointed Vice President of International Affairs at the Royal College of Ophthalmologist of Thailand (RCOPT), Secretary of the Subcommittee for Academic Affairs, and member of the Executive Committee for 12 consecutive years. She is currently the Co-Chief of International Affairs at the Thai Glaucoma Society and is a member of APAO Women In Ophthalmology’s (WIO) Standing Committee. Dr. Makornwattana is a distinguished glaucoma and cataract specialist whose current major research interests includes angle closure glaucoma, factors related to intraocular pressure, surgical techniques, advanced technology in glaucoma diagnosis and surgery, premium and advanced technology of intraocular lens and cataract surgery. She co-developed an application for glaucoma patients to increase patient-compliance and knowledge about their disease for further glaucoma-prevention, which received a medal from the 47th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva. Dr. Makornwattana has written many chapters and articles on glaucoma, ocular surface, advanced technology intraocular lens, and cataract in other textbooks, and has published a book about glaucoma with the purpose of helping to promote public awareness and to prevent glaucoma blindness.
Edgar Leuenberger Associate Professor in Ophthalmology at University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center
Edgar Leuenberger Associate Professor in Ophthalmology at University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center Dr. Edgar U. Leuenberger is Director of the Glaucoma Fellowship Program and Co-Director of the Glaucoma Service of the Asian Eye Institute, Philippines. He is the Associate Professor in Ophthalmology and Chief of the Glaucoma Services at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center (UERMMMC) and Ospital ng Makati. Dr. Edgar’s main advocacy is uplifting the plight of visually disabled marginalized Filipinos through his active involvement with the Ophthalmological Foundation of the Philippines (OFPHIL) , for which he served as President from 2017 -2021. His research interests are improvement and development of glaucoma diagnostic and surgical procedures and has garnered numerous awards in competitions. He has published journal articles, book chapters, teaching materials, and lectures nationally and internationally.
