Dr. Md Iftekher Iqbal, one of the young glaucoma specialists from Bangladesh, currently working as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Glaucoma Department of Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital, Bangladesh.
After completion of his graduation, he did his post-graduation (Master in Surgery, MS) in Ophthalmology from one of the oldest and renowned medical university of the country, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). Later, he finished his medical and surgical fellowship in glaucoma from the country’s state-of-the-art subspecialized training institute, Ispahani Islamia Eye institute and Hospital, Bangladesh. He has extensive surgical experiences in managing complicated cases, especially glaucoma and cataract-related, as well as with glaucoma drainage devices, pediatric glaucoma surgery, and different laser procedures (LPI, SLT, Cyclophotocoagulation mainly). He is also actively involved with teaching and mentoring in short-term and long-term fellowship programs for cataract (both MSICS and Phaco) and glaucoma running by his institute. He is passionate about clinical research and presented few of his works nationally and internationally, which includes Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) and European Society of Ophthalmology (SOE) congresses. As a part of the community works, he provides surgical help to the rural areas of the country to reduce the cataract backlog. Apart from all of these, he enjoys his leisure with writing, photography, music, and travelling with family and friends. Ki Ho Park is a professor of ophthalmology at Seoul National University and the President of the Glaucoma Research Society (GRS) and Board Member of International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO). He is Associate editor of Journal of Glaucoma and International Glaucoma Review (IGR); Section editor of the British Journal of Ophthalmology, Japanese Journal of Ophthalmology, and Asia Pacific Journal of Ophthalmology; Editorial board member of IOVS and Korean Journal of Ophthalmology.
He has been served as the immediate past president of the Asia Pacific Glaucoma Society (APGS) and Korean Ophthalmological Society (KOS), and the Board of Governors of the World Glaucoma Association (WGA). He has published more than 400 papers in SCI journals. He was awarded the AAO Senior Achievement Award and APAO Senior Achievement Award. Assoc Prof Shamira Perera is a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist and Clinical Director for Complex Anterior Segment Surgery in SNEC . At SERI he is the Co Head of Bioengineering and Devices One of his passions is teaching and is the current program director for SNEC residency. As the deputy director of the Med Tech office for SingHealth he has disbursed >S$6M for innovation. Supported by S$4.0M of competitive research grants as PI, his core work has yielded 8 patents, 90 invited lecturerships, 5 book chapters and >150 peer reviewed publications.
